Biography
Aaron J. Affleck, MD, an Idaho Falls native, has served Eastern Idaho since 2001 as a medical physician and surgeon of the eye (or ophthalmologist). Dr. Affleck is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is Idaho State licensed. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Affleck has vast experience in complete medical and surgical eye care. He has cared for thousands of patients in this community and beyond.
Dr. Affleck completed his ophthalmology residency training and was honored as Chief Resident at Kresge Eye Institute/Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Nationwide and globally this institute is known for being in the forefront of medical eye care and training. The training includes a strong focus on Laser Vision Correction Surgery also known as Lasik & PRK. At the time this institute oversaw five different hospitals in the Detroit area. This coverage granted Dr. Affleck exposure and training to an immense variety of eye conditions contributing to his sizeable knowledge and skills today. He received his medical degree from The Chicago Medical School, which also has a national reputation in advanced medical and healthcare education. He earned his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University.
Personal Experience
As one of the leading Idaho Falls surgeons he has also performed thousands of successful cataract surgeries and over a thousand successful LASIK eye surgeries.
He was the first Ophthalmologist to preform the Laser-assisted DCR (Dacryocystorhynostomy) in Eastern Idaho. This advanced treatment allows Dr. Affleck to open the blocked tearing drainage system without creating scars on the face.
Dr. Affleck was also the first in Eastern Idaho to offer the innovated Dropless Cataract Surgery. The benefits to the patient is outstanding and cost effective. The technique needs a skillful hand to place the medication correctly.
